2.5 Update Available

Hey everyone, I hope you're all enjoying MessengerDiscovery 2.5

Just so you know, MessengerDiscovery 3 will be going into private best testing soon, so expect news about the most important release ever very soon . If you would like to be a tester please send me a PM explaining why and making a promise to report bugs and I'll make you a tester.

So, there's an update for MessengerDiscovery 2.5.

The changes are all bug fixes, including a major fix to alert skins/plugin installation and a memory leak has been fixed.

The automatic update wont make you go to msgdiscovery.com, everything should be automatic .

New Group Icons

Hey guys just to announce, I have given the group icons a new look. It's been on my todo list for awhile now just been waiting to get my hands on Photoshop CS5. Which may I just add has been awesome.

I'm also looking forward to doing more updates and giving this place a much needed face lift, so look out for the new changes.

It has been about 6 months since the last release of MessengerDiscovery. Things have changed a lot, I've started another project (http://chatflow.net/) and MessengerDiscovery has undergone a lot of internal restructuring.

So without further ado I present to you:

MessengerDiscovery 3 is soon around the corner, I have many cool new features planned that I will unveil over time in the development blog.

MessengerDiscovery 2.5 is unsponsored, which means you don't have to worry about the sponsor package that was included in 2.1.

I would like to give a major thanks to all the community members whose collective assistance massively outweighs my own creation. There's a few surprises in this version for you (including an easter egg).

Hi everyone! No, this isn't an April fools prank .

It has been a while since I spoke to everyone last and I apologize . I hope you all have had a good 2010 so far, I know lot of you have .
There has been a lot of change already this year, I have been doing a lot of work on my new project ChatFlow which has been a lot of fun. Unfortunately I forgot about MessengerDiscovery (not entirely though!) as there isn't much work that I can do, I'm very satisfied with MessengerDiscovery 2.1 and I know a lot of other people are too.

Since start ChatFlow a lot a has changed, it has formed into a company and has become very popular. It even has an official office! And of course: MessengerDiscovery has moved in as well . So this means that I can now work on MessengerDiscovery and ChatFlow.

As I promised: a new beta is available today, and if you would like to become a beta tester of MessengerDiscovery

I hope you're all still there and interested in MessengerDiscovery because it's going to become the best it has ever been . See you all in the beta forum for some serious testing.

Hello guys,

It's finally here! After a few months of no activity, Matt's decided to release the next version of MessengerDiscovery he was secretly working on. MessengerDiscovery 2.5 is the latest and greatest version ever and it is now available to everyone. This build is currently available in English only.

There are also several improvements that enhance every day use of Messenger such as:
- Appearing offline on Facebook Chat and being able to talk to contacts
- 25 improvements to the functionaly, speed and usability of MessengerDiscovery
- New MessengerDiscovery toolbar inside Windows Live Messenger
- An Improved plugin system
- All new GUI

Server issues

Welcome to the first news post of 2010 (or 'twenty ten')!

MessengerDiscovery fanatics have been complaining a bit about the website server being up and down up and down. I've spent the last few hours ensuring that the server is stable and we don't have this problem any longer. So far the server has been up and been without interruption for 9 hours. So we'll see how it goes.

Sorry for any inconvenience! I'm keeping a very close eye on it now .

What about MessengerDiscovery 2.5?
I'm working frantically on it! Since the entire code base has been modified there are a lot of bugs to fix and re-writes that I need to do, and it's taking forever. Beta testers can look forward to a new beta to play with by the weekend.

Less Ads, More Updates, More Users

If you're using the unsponsored version of MessengerDiscovery then you will be bothered with MessengerDiscovery Today popups. Beginning today MessengerDiscovery Today will no longer have these annoying popups. You do not need to download anything for the changes to take effect. MessengerDiscovery also has no more sponsor package temporarily.

MessengerDiscovery 2.5 will be going into beta testing in a week. 2.5 will include several huge improvements such as running inside Messenger (no extra executable running) and an in-messenger Discovery icon. Plus several cool new MessengerDiscovery exclusive features (some which have returned from previous versions).

And even better: a record was made today! 850,000 people used MessengerDiscovery 2.1 today. I'm not usually interested in statistics but this is something I'm very proud of.

With 2.5 and less ads (effective immediately) MessengerDiscovery is set to continue growing for years to come!

Facebook Chat Fix Available

If you're like me you will use the Facebook chat feature of MessengerDiscovery more than Windows Live Messenger. However, the team at Facebok have made a few changes to the way Facebook chat works, breaking your favourite Windows Live Messenger addon. This will cause you to run into a few errors while signing into Facebook chat. For this reason I have updated MessengerDiscovery 2.1 to fix these problems.

Although it has been available for several days now, MessengerDiscovery 2.1.78 is now fully available and auto-update will prompt you to get the latest version.

This update fixes serval bugs and has updates to support changes to Facebook chat. Most importantly there is now a competition running where you can win one of four MessengerDiscovery colored iPods and a limited edition MessengerDiscovery t-shirt. All you have to do is recommend MessengerDiscovery to friends and you're in to win! MessengerDiscovery will automatically ask if you wish to enter. Facebook Chat And Beta Testing

After three long months of development and testing MessengerDiscovery 2.1 is nearing completion. The reason for such a delay between versions is quite simple, there is a massive new feature! If you read the development blog then you most likely already know what that feature is: Facebook Chat integrated into Windows Live Messenger.

With MessengerDiscovery 2.1 you will be able to chat with your friends on Facebook while using Windows Live Messenger. MessengerDiscovery has also moved out of the task bar and into Messenger itself.

Clicking on the Facebook logo enables you to change an array of settings, and set your account up for use.

Once you have set your account up for use, you may sign into Facebook chat!

Using Facebook chat is exactly the same as using usual chat with Messenger. You double click a contact to open a conversation window, and conversation windows will be opened when you receive a message. There is of course sounds and alerts to accompany events.

Public beta testing well begin on Wednesday the 23rd of September, I will announce details on this day along with information on the competition that will be running for public beta testers.

It has been a couple months since a major update but I am happy to announce that MessengerDiscovery 2 is back into full-time development. Along with a new MessengerDiscovery version I will be announcing/releasing a few new products that I've been working on during my big break.

Beta testers - get ready for daily betas.
Translators - get ready for a lot of translating for the new version.
Everyone else - prepare for a new version with over 20 new features planned.

I will also release another bug fix update within the coming week.

Competition - Messengerdiscovery Forums Turns 2!

Just a few days back we had MessengerDiscovery itself turning 5 but now it's time for the forum. Yes, you heard it right the new MessengerDiscovery forums turns 2 today! You all might be wonder why am I referring it to as the 'new MessengerDiscovery forums', well that's because we lost our database (of the old board) which started just a while after MessengerDiscovery itself due to which we lost all our members, posts, threads etc.

I'd like to thank all those who've helped in re-constructing the forum (you know who you are) and also who've helped in all other possible ways for the development of MessengerDiscovery.

We almost have 10,000 forum members (13,000+ including the validating members) and almost 30,000 forum posts in 2 years which is great.

To celebrate this we are having a competition which starts now, on the 16th July. After a week from now, i.e, on 23rd July the competition closes the competition and the results will be announced on 25th July. You need no skills to enter this competition, all you need to do is register on the forums if you haven't already. After the competition comes to an end 3 random lucky winner will get to beta test the future MessengerDisocvery version (that is, will become official MessengerDiscovery beta testers)! Whom so ever is selected will be sent a PM asking if he wants to test to MessengerDiscovery. If the person isn't interested another lucky winner will be selected.

If you're already a beta tester we'll give you something special and unfortunately this competition isn't for the staff .

This is your chance to test one of the most popular addons for Windows Live Messenger before anyone else, so don't waste time and get registering if you haven't already.

At long last, there is a new version of MessengerDiscovery 2.0 available. This version includes many updates, bug fixes and a few new features. It is a recommended update as it fixes quite a few problems.

Half A Million Users!

In the short time (just over a month) MessengerDiscovery 2 has been downloaded over half a million times, and there are currently 500,000 active users of it today. This is excellent, and really gives me a lot of motivation to keep working as hard on MD as possible. So, to keep that 1/2 million people happy - there will be a bug fix release tomorrow. The new release also includes a few extra features such as emoticon protection.
