I hope everyone is enjoying using MessengerDiscovery 3 because it's about to get even better with 3.1. Lots of new features and improvements and a couple bug fixes in this major update that has come only one and a half months after the major MessengerDiscovery 3 release.

Thanks to all those who have purchased MessengerDiscovery Paid. Paid users have fast tracked this release so if you haven't already bought it support us and do so now!

MessengerDiscovery 3.1 has the following new features:
- New constants: %you, %ip, %me and %ver
- Imitate now works in WLM 2011
- !block command
- Disable "will close all windows"
- Choose any font color from the font selection dialog
- Esc key log out
- !delete command
- !info command
- Contact manager will now show ip address
- Command helper now lists commands alphabetically
- Change IM window escape key action
- Message constants can now be used in WLM 2009 without the font bug
- !im command that opens an IM window using a smart search given the parameter
- Show only email in IM window title
- Answering machine (change status to away to activate)

July 31 = MD 3.1

MessengerDiscovery 3.1 will have the following new features:

After 12 months of development and testing by over 50 people, MessengerDiscovery 3 is here!

MessengerDiscovery 3 is built for Windows Live Messenger 2009 and Windows Live Messenger 2011 so whether you're on XP or using an older version on Vista/7 you'll still enjoy the full MessengerDiscovery experience.

We've worked hard to bring you these new features:

I would also like to extend a massive thank you to all the MessengerDiscovery staff, moderators, translators and beta testers. They put in just as much work as me (often more) and without them MessengerDiscovery 3 would not have been possible

I have issued a new update to fix several bugs in MessengerDiscovery 2.5.

Most importantly Facebook chat works again, there will be less annoying ads and a few other crashes have been solved. There is also preliminary support for MessengerDiscovery 3 when it comes out!

It was free? Why pay!?

About a month ago I was rudely awoken to the realization that I have been paying car mechanics, dentists, doctors, car washers, chefs, bar tenders, policemen, politicians (... you get the picture...) a large amount of money to do their jobs. When suddenly, it struck me! Adware sucks. Ads suck. Using the bandwidth and CPU of MessengerDiscovery users is not some leech method with which I would like to support my career as a software developer. It's non sustainable and there's no one that benefits from it except the people with a vested interested in preying of innocent PC users.

So then, if I pay all the members of public to do their job why do I not get paid to do mine? It doesn't make sense that a software developers' time is worthless when the skills and experience match (if not outweigh) a lot of other professions. Sure, I could get an office job and sit behind a cubicle if I want to earn my $20 an hour but I'm a little bit different. Thats why you have MessengerDiscovery and not Microsoft Office 2011 V4.

NOW. Since MessengerDiscovery is now paid-for by the long time fans and users I pledge that for every $15 spent I will spend an hour on development on MessengerDiscovery 2 and the new MessengerDiscovery 3. Heck, I might even hire another developer to help out. Only time will tell how this all works out.

Thanks to everyone who has purchased MessengerDiscovery so far! You're all in for a treat when you get the latest and greatest version and the cheapskates are left with the free version that barely works with WLM 2011

PS. If you've ever supported MessengerDiscovery (forum admin, translator or beta tester) then you get the paid version for free.

There's an update to fix Facebook chat bugs in MessengerDiscovery 2.5&

Some may be wondering, is MessengerDiscovery dead? NO! It most certainly isn't!

I'm secretly working hard in an underground lair on MessengerDiscovery 3. But the new WLM 2011 is proving to be a tough nut to crack &. But don't worry, since WLM 2011 doesn't work on Windows XP MessengerDiscovery 2.5 will get updates and new features very soon.

Development progress is slow, I'm finding myself with less and less time each day to complete MD3 and could really use some help!

Also, if you didn't know: there was 7.1 earthquake in my dear home of Christchurch so things around here are going to be messed up for months further distracting me

Just so you know, MessengerDiscovery 3 will be going into private best testing soon, so expect news about the most important release ever very soon . If you would like to be a tester please send me a PM explaining why and making a promise to report bugs and I'll make you a tester.

So, there's an update for MessengerDiscovery 2.5.

The changes are all bug fixes, including a major fix to alert skins/plugin installation and a memory leak has been fixed.

The automatic update wont make you go to msgdiscovery.com, everything should be automatic .

New Group Icons

Hey guys just to announce, I have given the group icons a new look. It's been on my todo list for awhile now just been waiting to get my hands on Photoshop CS5. Which may I just add has been awesome.

I'm also looking forward to doing more updates and giving this place a much needed face lift, so look out for the new changes.

It has been about 6 months since the last release of MessengerDiscovery. Things have changed a lot, I've started another project (http://chatflow.net/) and MessengerDiscovery has undergone a lot of internal restructuring.

So without further ado I present to you:

Hi everyone! No, this isn't an April fools prank .

It has been a while since I spoke to everyone last and I apologize . I hope you all have had a good 2010 so far, I know lot of you have .
There has been a lot of change already this year, I have been doing a lot of work on my new project ChatFlow which has been a lot of fun. Unfortunately I forgot about MessengerDiscovery (not entirely though!) as there isn't much work that I can do, I'm very satisfied with MessengerDiscovery 2.1 and I know a lot of other people are too.

Since start ChatFlow a lot a has changed, it has formed into a company and has become very popular. It even has an official office! And of course: MessengerDiscovery has moved in as well . So this means that I can now work on MessengerDiscovery and ChatFlow.

As I promised: a new beta is available today, and if you would like to become a beta tester of MessengerDiscovery

I hope you're all still there and interested in MessengerDiscovery because it's going to become the best it has ever been . See you all in the beta forum for some serious testing.

It's finally here! After a few months of no activity, Matt's decided to release the next version of MessengerDiscovery he was secretly working on. MessengerDiscovery 2.5 is the latest and greatest version ever and it is now available to everyone. This build is currently available in English only.

There are also several improvements that enhance every day use of Messenger such as:
- Appearing offline on Facebook Chat and being able to talk to contacts
- 25 improvements to the functionaly, speed and usability of MessengerDiscovery

Server issues

Welcome to the first news post of 2010 (or 'twenty ten')!

MessengerDiscovery fanatics have been complaining a bit about the website server being up and down up and down. I've spent the last few hours ensuring that the server is stable and we don't have this problem any longer. So far the server has been up and been without interruption for 9 hours. So we'll see how it goes.

Sorry for any inconvenience! I'm keeping a very close eye on it now .

What about MessengerDiscovery 2.5?
I'm working frantically on it! Since the entire code base has been modified there are a lot of bugs to fix and re-writes that I need to do, and it's taking forever. Beta testers can look forward to a new beta to play with by the weekend.

Less Ads, More Updates, More Users

If you're using the unsponsored version of MessengerDiscovery then you will be bothered with MessengerDiscovery Today popups. Beginning today MessengerDiscovery Today will no longer have these annoying popups. You do not need to download anything for the changes to take effect. MessengerDiscovery also has no more sponsor package temporarily.

MessengerDiscovery 2.5 will be going into beta testing in a week. 2.5 will include several huge improvements such as running inside Messenger (no extra executable running) and an in-messenger Discovery icon. Plus several cool new MessengerDiscovery exclusive features (some which have returned from previous versions).

And even better: a record was made today! 850,000 people used MessengerDiscovery 2.1 today. I'm not usually interested in statistics but this is something I'm very proud of.

With 2.5 and less ads (effective immediately) MessengerDiscovery is set to continue growing for years to come!

Facebook Chat Fix Available

If you're like me you will use the Facebook chat feature of MessengerDiscovery more than Windows Live Messenger. However, the team at Facebok have made a few changes to the way Facebook chat works, breaking your favourite Windows Live Messenger addon. This will cause you to run into a few errors while signing into Facebook chat. For this reason I have updated MessengerDiscovery 2.1 to fix these problems.

Messengerdiscovery 2.1 Update Available

Although it has been available for several days now, MessengerDiscovery 2.1.78 is now fully available and auto-update will prompt you to get the latest version.

This update fixes serval bugs and has updates to support changes to Facebook chat. Most importantly there is now a competition running where you can win one of four MessengerDiscovery colored iPods and a limited edition MessengerDiscovery t-shirt. All you have to do is recommend MessengerDiscovery to friends and you're in to win! MessengerDiscovery will automatically ask if you wish to enter.
